Southern Glass Services were contacted by the Chewton Glen Hotel to help out as part of renovation works within the hotel. As part of the renovation works the client was planning to install a variety of mirrors into new and existing surfaces all around the communal areas of the hotel. After our initial meetings with the client, we had an idea of the type of mirror they required, and we supplied a variety of samples for the client to choose from. For a job of this scale, we felt that it was crucial to ensure that the client was happy with the design and specification of the mirrors from an early stage.
One of the advantages of antique mirrors is that due to the construction of the mirrors, no two mirrors will ever look the same. This gives a unique and bespoke feel to the mirrors that is essential for a prestigious hotel such as the Chewton Glen. The unique design of the mirrors is also a benefit when you have multiple mirrors next to each other as it avoids a repeating pattern appearing.
Chewton Glen had enlisted Charnic Interiors Ltd to plan and oversee the renovations. As the mirrors are part of a larger renovation project it was important for us to liaise with Charnic to ensure that our installation would keep in line with their schedule of works. While on site we worked in unison with Charnic to enable them to follow behind us to trim the mirrors after we had fixed them into position.
